On Thursday 3rd July, a group of National Diploma Animal Management students hosted a Fun Day for children at the South Downs College Nursery

The students from South Downs College undertook risk assessments, devised a quiz and organised an egg hunt, lucky dip and guided tours for the children. Children were able to have their photos taken with Bearded Dragons and Leopard Geckos and to meet snakes, chameleons and hissing cockroaches!  Outside our students took them into the outdoor runs to meet the rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens.

After some more fun decorating eggs, walking ferrets and meeting the chipmunks the children had a picnic and played games in the Animal Unit garden.

Both the Animal Care and Nursery staff teams were delighted with the way the students rose to the challenge and at how much the children and their parents enjoyed their visit.  The day was such a success that the teams are planning to make this an annual event.
