At an event held recently at Oaklands College, Amanda was presented with her award as the Best Student in Animal Studies Level 3 – sponsored by VETNET LLN.

Amanda left school with limited success in her GCSE exams, and her studies at Oaklands College began with a National Certificate programme, where she attained a distinction grade.  This allowed her to progress onto the National Diploma programme where Amanda showed she had developed into a dedicated and highly motivated learner.  She was the course representative and was an asset within the staff programme meetings.

Amanda also achieved a number of BHS qualifications alongside the National Diploma which demonstrated her high quality practical skills.  Even with a sudden bereavement within the family during the latter part of the second year of the programme Amanda still
attained distinctions in most of her assignments.  This high level of achievement enabled Amanda to attain an award of treble distinction overall on the National Diploma programme.

With support from VETNET LLN-funded progression activities during her ND course, Amanda is now studying for her Foundation Degree (FdSc) in Equine Performance and Management at the college.
