VACATION SCHOLARS' MEETING

Thursday 12th December 2007
at Pitsford Centre, Moulton College, Northampton.

Featuring talks by students who undertook UFAW & HSA* (Dorothy Sidley) Vacation Scholarships in 2007, investigating animal welfare issues.

Topics of talks include:

  • Welfare issues in fish: the interplay of pain, fear and stress
  • Feral ponies perception of, and response to, human interactions and handling
  • Effect on cow and calf welfare of analgesic use post-calving
  • A novel approach to assessment of affected states in animals
  • Investigating the schechita slaughter method and its implications for animal welfare
  • Assessing the practicalities and welfare implications of training laboratory animals

Attendance is free but places are limited.

Each talk will last approx 15 minutes and finish around 5.30pm.
