Event: The 'Big Leap'

Date: Friday 29th February 2008

Location:  Knowsley Safari Park, Liverpool

Concerned about conservation? Did you know that amphibians literally are facing a life or death crisis? The chytrid fungus is threatening their very existence.

Sir David Attenborough, who is the patron of the Year of The Frog, said:

“Amphibians were the first backboned creatures to colonise the land. They are fascinating. It’s terrible that they are endangered. “To have a whole section of the animal kingdom facing elimination is a major disaster, the consequences of which are difficult to over-emphasise. They are the foundation of many eco-systems.”

If you have a head for heights and want to play a part in saving a species from extinction, this may be an activity for you!

The Aerial Extreme is an attraction at the Safari Park and they are using the 50ft tower for the BIG LEAP.  If you think you’d be interested in taking the plunge to contribute to the effort to save frog species from extinction, email education@knowsley.com for details, sponsorship forms, etc.
